Dahmen Barn plans fourth annual Harvest fest Sept. 5

Dahmen Barn in Uniontown will host its fourth annual harvest festival Sept. 5 from 11 to 4. The event includes a pie baking contest with apple and apple combinations featured. Prizes will be given for first and second places in each flavor division. Two pies must be entered by 8:30 a.m., Sept. 5.

Pie a la mode will be served after the contest.

A straw bale sculpture contest will feature large-scale sculptures in the field adjacent to the highway.

Entries must be in place no later than Wednesday, Sept. 3 at 5 p.m. Dahmen Barn will provide the bales and sculptors are asked to bring embellishments. A weather proof sign with the title of the sculpture must be included. A People’s Choice prize is given the day of the festival. There is no entry fee, but advance registration is required. The festival will include demonstrations of pioneer crafts and vendors in the yard behind the wheel fence. Extra emphasis this year will be on local products. Live music will be played by Thorn Creek Express.
