Rain, sprinklers delay clash of SB contenders

A practice softball game between a Spokane-Coeur d’Alene team and a Lewiston team, Northwest Wildfire and the LC Heat, was actually rained and sprinklered out Tuesday at McDonald Park in Colfax. The two invitational teams, both headed for playoffs, hoped to get the game in Wednesday.

Carrie Hennigar of Colfax, an eighth grader at JES who played for the Bluejays here during the regular season, plays on the Wildfire team which is made up of players from Spokane and Coeur d’Alene. Todd Walker of Coeur d’Alene, a Colfax High grad, is coach of the team. They have qualified for the national ASA 12-under tournament, which will be in Spokane, Aug. 2-8.

The LC team has qualified for girls Little League regional rounds that will be in Portland.
