Bulldog girls win

Colfax girls hammered Wilbur/Creston in two games Saturday at Creston to advance their record to 5-1. Scores of the power wins were 36-3 and 39-0

Lauren Moore faced 20 ‘cats, allowed just four hits and walked one in pitching the win in the first game. Moore also booked one hit short of the cycle with a single, double and triple in the first game.

Kayleigh Maltone clubbed a grand slam homer over the fence in the third inning of the first game. Wildcats fans said the distance for the fence was 205 feet at center.

In the second game, Amy Hickman allowed just two hits, walked one, and fanned five ‘cats in throwing the shutout. She faced 17 batters over four innings when the game was stopped.

Colfax catcher Carmen Hall tagged a three-run homer over the left field fence in the second game to lead a 21-hit attack.

Brittney Burke and Christa Nyholm each had six RBIs in the first game, and Burke booked five more RBIs in the second game.

The Bulldogs Wednesday were slated to go up against Reardan in a makeup doubleheader at McDonald field in Colfax. The league pair with Reardan was rained out three times last week.
