    Pomeroy's Jim Greene has resigned as the Pirates' volleyball coach. Greene has coached volleyball at Pomeroy since 1993 and led the Pirates to three state titles, according to a report in last week's edition of The East Washingtonian at Pomeroy. .     The Colfax-Garfield/Palouse combo placed fifth among 16 teams Saturday in the invitational meet at Liberty. The team totaled 205 points.     Colfax Police officer Jaelene Bryan presented a $460 donation to Whitman Hospital Foundation coordinator Becky Dickerson last Wednesday from proceeds from the Paint the Town Pink campaign.     Whitman County Public Works has decided to halt work on the new effluent tanks at the Solid Waste transfer station until next year. Cold weather precludes further welding on the liner of the evaporation pond.     Tyeson Hodges, 25, Pullman, was formally charged Monday with possession of heroin and psilocybin mushrooms after he was arrested early Sunday morning on Main Street in Colfax. According to the arrest report, Hodges was in a car which was stopped by a deputy on S. Main in Colfax because of a faulty light.     Trevor Gorsline, 33, Walla Walla resident who was arrested on a drug charge in Colfax Sept. 28, was sentenced to 12-plus months in prison Friday after pleading guilty to a charge of possession of methamphetamine.
