Dahmen Barn to host several events this weekend

Mudslinging, Soup Extravaganza, and artist exhibit

UNIONTOWN — Artists at the Dahmen Barn will have two events this weekend on Sunday, April 7.

Starting at noon, Artisans at the Dahmen Barn will start with it’s annual Mudslinging and Soup Extravaganza.

The event features soup in custom bowls that participants can choose and take home with them.

There will be competitions including the blind throwing competition where potters create while blindfolded, and another potter or audience member guides them to craft the bowl, vase or other ceramics.

Ceramic artists and students have been working in the studio to shape bowls for the soup extravaganza which is a fundraiser for the ceramic program.

Tickets are available for a price at the door and all proceeds go towards equipment maintenance and supplies for children’s ceramic activities.

Following at 1 to 3 p.m. will be a Palouse Women Artist Group exhibit featuring 27 women artists with an opening reception.

During the reception artists discuss their artwork. The exhibit will run through Saturday, April 27.

The exhibit features both 2D and 3D artwork, with a variety of mediums being showcased including glass art, ceramics, mixed media, collage, watercolor acrylics, and oils.

The Dahmen Barn is located at 419 North Parkway, and is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursdays through Sundays.
