Colfax holds successful high school rodeo competition

COLFAX - Exactly one month after the Palouse Empire Fair took place at the Fairgrounds in Colfax, the next rodeo event has taken place.

The Washington State High School Rodeo Association (WSHSRA) hosted a rodeo at the Palouse Empire Arena in Colfax Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 7 and 8.

The rodeo saw local and non-local high school athletes travel to Colfax to compete in another installment of the WSHSRA rodeo.

The event lasted two days, with an average of 10 events each day for the rodeo.

The list of events for each day were: light rifle shooting, trap shooting, bareback, tie down, steer wrestling, bulls, saddle bronc, team roping, breakaway, goats, poles, and barrels.

In barrels, Jaycee Campbell took first with a time of 17.784, earning 10 points. Second was Ainsley Philippi, and third was Peyton Sanchey, earning eight points.

In poles, Morgan McGuire earned 10 points, Jill Hines earned nine points, and Presley Somes earned eight points.

Goats saw Jenna Tolman earn 10 points, while Joslyn Arnold took home nine points, and Jaycie Richey earned eight points.

In Bulls, Carter Schultz earned 10 points after posting a score of 67.00.

In steer wrestling, Reece Kane earned 10 points with a time of 9.730.

Jonah Bustad earned 10 points in tie down with a time of 14.300. Jade Ramon took nine points home after finishing with a score of 16.780.

In bareback, Duke Hanson earned 10 points with a score of 75.00
