Palouse Habitat for Humanity Hero Award

Habitat honors Jim and Dawn Fazio with award

MOSCOW— Palouse Habitat for Humanity has awarded the 2023 Habitat Hero Award to Jim and Dawn Fazio, owners of Woodland Enterprises.

The award is given annually to a business, individual or organization whose support has improved the Habitat’s ability to meet the needs of low to very low income residents of the Palouse.

“Jim and Dawn made the Palouse Habitat surplus sale possible,” Executive Director of Palouse Habitat for Humanity, Jennifer Wallace said.

Wallace explained that the surplus sales has grown to be Habitat’s largest single fundraiser, supporting the building of homes and repair projects around the Palouse. Habitat for Humanity has been testing the idea of a store, operating out of shipping containers on South Grand in Pullman.

Habitat was able to find a combination of a warehouse, and office space. The Fazios as the landlords made the rent affordable, and provided room for the administrative team when Habitat for Humanity lost their office space in a local church.

In 2017, the Fazio’s retired, and offered Habitat the first opportunity to buy the building.

“Thanks to Jim and Dawn, Palouse Habitat for Humanity has a permanent home from which to grow our home building and repair programs, and better serve our community,” Wallace said.
