Earl Hodges and Arthur Baird Convicted of Theft

Gaines' Store Watched for Several Nights and One Culprit Caught Robbing the Till

Monday Evening Deputy Sheriff Green Smith arrested Earl Hodges and Arythur Baird, on a charge of burglarizing the story of F.W. Gaines in Colfax. Hodges was caught in the store. He had just tapped the till, taking 40 cents, and had concealed a box of cigars on his person, when held up by the officer.

Colfax Gets New Grocery Store

C. W. McFarland of the Colfax Grain and Feed Company, has put in a complete stock of groceries at his place of business on main street. He will continue to handle his feed business and at thes ame time conduct his grocery store in connection. Saturday, the management of the store have a surprise for the customers of the store and on tha date there will be treats for all visitors.

Colfax TO HAVE LEAGUE BASEBALL

Hyphenates With Pullman In Whitman Division of Lewis & Clark

Organized baseball will be played in Colfax this spring and early summer for the first time in years with a hyphenated tean, Colfax-Pullman, as one of seven teams making up the Whitman County Divisionof the Lewis and Clark league, according to Sid Finch, Pullman, division business manager.

Sterling Bank to locate in LaCrosse, store remodel moving ahead

A revival is taking place in LaCrosse with the town's Main Street getting back into business thanks to a heaping helping of community support.

LaCrosse Community Pride, which formed in 2010 with the goal of bringing back a grocery store to the town, also spearheaded efforts to woo a bank back to town while the remodeling of the store moved toward completion.

"It's been a long road, but it's all starting to come together," said Gary Wargo, superintendent of LaCrosse Schools and president of LaCrosse Community Pride.
