Quilts of Valor presented to five men

COLFAX — Five county veterans were honored with Quilts of Valor at two ceremonies at the Colfax United Methodist Church.

David John Stueckle, Donald (Don) Cowan and John Love received their honors on March 10. Jim Lemon and William (Bill) Rogers received theirs on March 5.

Stueckle, 90, of LaCrosse, served from 1951-55 as an instructor on instrument navigation in the Navy as a petty officer second class at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island.

Cowan, 98, of St. John, served from 1941-45 as a Navy aircraft machinist mate first class on the carrier U.S.S. Bogue. He spent part of two years in the Nor...
