Museum impacted by COVID orders

COLFAX — The Perkins House and Whitman County Historical Society have repurposed Christmas decorations in the wake of the coronavirus quarantine orders issued last week by Gov. Jay Inslee.

Outreach Coordinator Jill Gfeller and volunteers said they have found a way to share the holiday cheer despite the order.

Residents and visitors may take photographs standing on the porch or in the garden, with the decorations serving as a backdrop.

A volunteer in vintage clothing may be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 5 and Dec. 12 to assist with photography, using COVID-19 protocols.

The House and cabin will not be open.

“Tree-zilla,” the huge tree in the music room, and a smaller tree can be enjoyed from outside, officials said.
