Perkins fundraiser brings in over $1,800

COLFAX–The Drive-By Vintage Fashion Show at the Perkins House Saturday was deemed a success by organizer Nancy Rothwell. After a week of smokey skies, a fresh breeze and light rain cleared away the smoke just in time for the outdoor fashion show and fundraiser.

According to Rothwell, more than 15 volunteers, including children, turned out to don vintage or replica vintage apparel. The models portrayed common days of yore activities including playing croquet, tea parties, reading on the swing and playing with ribbon wands. One group of model, in addition to their vintage-style clothes, had a modern twist with matching face masks as they greeted visitors.

More than $1,800 was raised at the event for the foundation repair work on the Perkins House. A portion of the cash donations will be given to the Whitman County Fire Relief efforts. Several bags of non-perishable food were collected from visitors for the Colfax Food Bank.

"The Whitman County Historical Society and Perkins House volunteers are very grateful for the generous support we received from the community," stated Rothwell.
