Rhonda Funk performs at Dahmen Barn

February 27, 2020

Country artist from Nashville, Tenn., Rhonda Funk, performs at the Dahmen Barn in Uniontown on March 6, from 7 to 9 p.m. An independent singer/songwriter, Funk combines the grittiness of Janis Joplin with the softness of Stevie Nicks.

Described by many as a young Melissa Etheridge with a raspy country tone and a rock edge, Funk delivers a unique vibe on the stage. Writing her first song at the age of 15, she has recorded three Christian albums and her most recent country album (recorded in Nashville in 2017) and has been featured on radio stations and internet streams across the country.

Her growing popularity in her native home of the Pacific NW has landed her spots in the LRS Fest (2017) and the Oregon Jamboree (2018) along with opening for Darryl Worley for the Oregon Jamboree Mystery Concert St. Jude’s fundraiser held at Oregon State University (2018).

Pure Music Nashville’s newest recording artist, Funk is calling 2020 the year of vision. Moving to Nashville to pursue her dreams of becoming a professional songwriter in the summer of 2018, just one-and-a-half years after surviving brain surgery for an aneurysm, she found herself writing with hit songwriters such as Wood Newton, Billy Lee and Blue Foley, hosting Hook Lines and Rhymes and a Melody, a new breakthrough crowd songwriting experience at the popular third and Lindsley, performing over 90 shows in six states in 2019, and getting her first cut, a Christmas duet, with country icon T. Graham Brown and Claudette King (daughter of blues legend BB King). One of her songs “Too Close To Home” was featured on an episode of This American Life (December, 2019, titled Too Close To Home).

Tickets are $15, sold at the door only. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with beer, wine and food available for purchas. Music starts at 7 p.m.
