Koker sentenced to 30 days

Deeanna M. Koker, 35, Colfax, was sentenced to 30 days in jail Sept. 21 after she pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of heroin. Koker was arrested Aug. 31 at a residence in the 500 block of N. Mill Street in Colfax. She was arrested on a warrant issued in connection with a Colfax burglary investigation. The Colfax Police Department report said when Officer Cory Alcantar went to the residence, Koker locked herself in a back room.

Sheriff's officers assisting with the arrest forced the room door open and the heroin evidence was found in a subsequent arrest on the burglary warrant. The heroin was located in Koker's purse as part of a search subsequent to her arrest, the report said.

Koker has not been charged in connection with the burglary case.

She received credit for time served in jail and was allowed release after also being credited with good time.

The prosecutor had recommended a sentence of 45 days.
