David Nordquist wins Cowboy Idol competition

David Nordquist of Pullman survived three days of competition to win the cowboy poetry first place trophy at the Columbia River Cowboy Gathering in Kennewick last weekend. In so doing he earned the title "Cowboy Idol," which will be his for a year.

This is the second year in a row that a member of the Palouse Country Cowboy Poetry Association has won the event. Last year Dick Warwick of Oakesdale claimed the title.

“Grandpa Nord," as Nordquist calls himself when he performs his verse, delighted his audiences with mainly humorous poems, most of which he wrote himself.
