Dennis and Sam Hughes of Spokane set a new fast time in the early qualifications on this run in their Overkill boat.

The first stop for the American Sprint Boat racers at the slough Saturday filled the terraces for a full day of racing. The sprint boats competed in three different classes with the fastest run on the course on the 30-leg course booked under 39 seconds.
