Li and Jon Ochs hosted an art workshop at their home organized by their daughter Nadia Wilson this past weekend. Sixteen people from the western side of the state arrived on Friday to participate in classes on watercolor, acrylic painting and photography taught by three teachers, two from the Northwest Art Center. Wilson is the director at the Center.

Eight of the students stayed with the Ochs, and eight stayed at the Parsonage Bed and Breakfast. The group had its lessons outdoors in the Ochs’ yard, cooked meals together and spent evenings around a campfire enjoying the good weather. They also went to Steptoe Butte and tried to get into the Palouse Falls Park but it was full with an hour wait time just to enter the park, so the group had a picnic in the Washtucna park instead. They returned to their respective homes Monday morning. The Ochs hope to be able to repeat this experience next year with interested locals joining the sessions.

John and Brandi Brink and girls spent Saturday and Sunday at the home of John’s parents, Di and Larry Brink.

Kim and Cindy Pitts were in Boise over the weekend at the home of their daughter’s family, Jen, Ryan, Kellen, Becket and Willa Hammons. Kim returned home Monday. Cindy will stay the week and return home with the Hammons when they come to central Washington to attend a wedding next weekend.

Denise Kendall, Tacoma, spent the weekend with her sister and brother-in-law, Doreen and Tom Riedner. They were joined by brother and sister-in-law Brian and Angela Broeckel for dinner at Sol Vallarta in Colfax Sunday evening. Kendall returned home Monday morning. She said it was 63 degrees and raining in Tacoma when she arrived home.

Art and Colene Sager flew their plane to John Day, Ore., on Memorial Day to attend a service honoring Art’s uncle. The memorial service was in the Prairie Baptist Church with burial at the local cemetery. Relatives came from Colorado, California, western Oregon, Idaho and Washington.

Last week Wednesday, family celebrated Jason Nolan’s birthday with dinner at Sol Vallarta. Attending the celebration were the honored guest, his parents Greg and Gwen Nolan, grandparents Mark and Carol Rubin and Jeanette Nolan, uncle, aunt and cousin; Jay and Kathy Rubin and Bryan and great-aunt Karen Broeckel.
