Christmas party

set at Farmington

Farmington volunteer fire department will host its “Holiday/Christmas Party for the Kids” Dec. 21 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the fire station. Santa Claus is expected to arrive about 6:30 p.m.

Snacks, beverages and treats will be on hand with elves handing out gift bags to the kids.

Childrens' program

at Tekoa Church

Tekoa Community Church extends a warm welcome to its annual children’s Christmas program Sunday, Dec. 18, at 11 a.m. The program is entitled “The Christmas Window” and involves more than 20 children from ages 4 to 14. The play is a combination of story-telling, Bible scriptures, caroling and instrumental performances.

Tekoa Elementary School teacher Kim Schulz is the producer.

Refreshments will be served afterward. Parking assistance will be offered.

FFA tree sale

Garfield/Palouse Vikotics robotics team will offer U-cut Christmas trees at Nelson's Farm, 202 Ryde Road, Farmington. Spruce trees from four to 20 feet tall are available for $30 Saturday, Dec. 17, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Directions: From Palouse, north on Highway 27. Just before Garfield, turn right onto Garfield-Farmington Road. Go approximately six miles and watch for the Nelson's Farm signs.

Thrifty Grandmothers

The Colfax Thrifty Grandmother’s Club met Monday at the Colfax United Methodist Church for its annual Christmas gathering. The ladies of the church served a delicious luncheon, followed by fellowship among the ladies.

A brief meeting was held with the following donations approved: Whitman County Hospital Auxiliary, $500; Whitman County Hospital Foundation, $500; Giving Tree, $500; Parks & Rec. Disabled Tree, $250, and Whitman Hospital Medical Center Baby Wagon, $100.

Rosalia

Garden Club

Members will gather at noon in the Rosalia United Methodist Church Dec. 21 to fill cheer baskets for the community with donated Christmas goodies. They will then deliver them to area residents who have lost a loved one, been ill or alone.

Mary Ann Bowman continues to serve as the chairman of this project. Volunteers are welcome to join garden clubs members to help; call Mary Ann if anyone needs further information or wishes to donate items for the Cheer Baskets.

On Nov. 30, members made wreaths and hung them in the gazebo at the mini-park for the holiday season.

Pullman LWV

The Pullman League of Women Voters' Brown Bag session today, Dec. 15, will feature Deb Pehrson from Tukey orchard and Brad Jaeckel from the WSU Organic farm discussing practices and philosophies. The last brown bag of 2016 will be from noon to 1 p.m. at Community Congregational Church, 525 Campus Street, Pullman.
