'Art Among the Trees' to benefit Center, CDA

Library staffers Rachelle Ledbetter, Catalina Flores and Nichole Kopp pose with a few entries from the Festival of Trees.

“Art Among the Trees,” an open house event featuring the work of seven local artists, along with a community celebration of The Festival of Trees, will be at The Center at Colfax Library next Wednesday, Dec. 21, from 5 to 9 p.m.

Among the artists exhibiting their work will be Vicki Broeckel, Bob Krikac, Rob Smith, Henry Stinson and Carrie Vielle. Featured photographers include Francisco Aguilar and Tom Mohr.

All art and photography sales will benefit the restroom project at The Center and a building improvement program now being developed by Colfax Downtown Association through the Main Street Grants Program.

The Festival of Trees features holiday trees decorated by community groups that will be lit for viewing with the winners of a number of categories set to be announced at 7 p.m.

Raffle tickets for the WSU/Ace Hardware Tree will be on sale throughout the event and the winning ticket drawn at 8:30 p.m.

Complimentary appetizers and beverages will be served at the event while a no-host bar with Sheri and Gary Miller serving beer and wine with proceeds also going toward The Center and CDA.

“Art Among the Trees” is sponsored by the Friends of Whitman County Library and the Colfax Downtown Association, and all proceeds will benefit those organizations. For more information, contact Kristie Kirkpatrick at 509-397-4366.
