Bulldogs to host league XC runners Oct. 4

Runners on the NE cross country circuit will race at Colfax next Tuesday with the course staked out on the Colfax golf course. The Colfax stop has been booked as an all-league meet with the races scheduled to start at 4 p.m.

NE teams Tuesday raced on the scenic course at St. George's with its distinctive run on a single track on the hills over the Little Spokane River valley and its finish on the big sand hill.

Gavin Merritt of Tekoa/Rosalia topped the local entrants with a fifth-place finish behind the 18:16 win posted by the Dragons' Alex Watkins on his home course. Merritt clocked 19:25.

St. George's Madison Ward picked up another win on the girls side, this time clocking 19:59 on her home course.

Chase Baerlocher topped Colfax at 12th place with a 20:29. Other finishers for the Bulldogs were Ryley Griffiths, 14th at 20:37; Josh Goebel, 29th at 22:56; Austin Ring; 34th at 23:24, and Doug Wilson, 47th at 27:15.

Carson Cloaninger, who normally tops the Bulldog runners, was unable to run because of illness.

Other finishers for Tekoa/Rosalia were Issac Leighton, 30th at 22:57; Zane Neill, 35th at 23:41; Dawson Strobel, 39th at 24:20; Jeremy Weldy, 40th at 24:26; Jaedyn Norwood, 45th at 24:26, and Josef Nocker, 48th at 27:15.

St. John/Endicott finishers in the boys race were led by Dominic Treis, 27th at 22:24, and Conr Hergert 36th at 23:43.

Catherine Treis of the Eagles placed 12th in the girls race at 27:54.

Colfax finishers in the girls race were Alicia Knee, 11th at 27:24; Rebekah Huber, 14th at 29:36; Tayma Vanek, 15th at 30:03, and Kiah Miller, 18th at 31:39.

Other SJE finishers were Chelsea Bammes, 22nd at 35.15, and Guineverre Richmond, 23rd at 36:51. Emily Leighton placed 24th at 38:21 for Tekoa/Rosalia.

Colfax junior high runners finishing the 3K course were Josh Huber at 11:21 and Anna Cocking at 13:30.

Colfax boys placed second Sept. 20 at the NE cross country race in Reardan with 74 team points. St. George's won the meet with 32 points. Cloaninger led the Colfax team with a 19:01 time for fifth place.

Jacob Clark of Wilbur/Creston won the race with a time of 17:08. He was followed by St. George's Alex Watkins at 18:02 and Brett Ford at 18:32.

Other finishers for Colfax were Baerlocher 19:52, Griffiths 20:05, Goebel 21:49, Ring 21:50 and Wilson 24:01.

Colfax girls finished fourth with a 65 score behind the 42 win posted by Republic. Madison Ward of St. George's booked another league win with a 19:49. Times for the Bulldog runners were Huber 24:02, Knee 25:22, Isabelle Erickson 26:58, Miller 30:32 and Chelsea Becker 31:28.

Tekoa/Rosalia boys placed fifth at 115 points with Gavin Merritt placing seventh at 19:17. Other times for the T-Wolves were Issac Leighton 21:55; Jaedyn Norwood 21:56; Zane Neill 22:39; Dawson Stroebel 24:19; Josef Nocker 26:59, and AJ Harp 33:35. Times for TR girls were Sarina Hill 31:31 and Emily Leighton 33:37.
