Gar/Pal comedy

set at Garfield

Gar/Pal Theatre will present a romantic comedy, "Beauty and the Beast," a twist on a classic love story, Friday and Saturday, April 22 and 23, at 7 p.m. in the Garfield Auditorium. Admission prices are: students $4, adults $6. Refreshments will be provided by PEO Chapter IO.

Kids workshop

set at Dahmen

Artisans at the Dahmen Barn will present a workshop April 30 for children aged 6 to 12 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. The children will plant a miniature garden and add small clay sculptures. All materials are included in the $14 class fee. Registrations may be made online.

CLUBS & YOUTH GROUPS

Colfax FFA

Colfax FFA with students last weekend competed in state trapshooting and state agricultural mechanics. The trapshooting team placed seventh out of 33 entries, and Connor Pellisier placed was high individual.

The ag mech team placed seventh out of 24 teams, and Kyle Appel as 16th high individual.

Genealogical Society

Whitman County Genealogical Society will host a free seminar April 30, from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at Bishop Place in Pullman.

Charlotte Omoto will talk on DNA research, and Matt and Sheli Carroll will talk about Irish research. For more information contact Sue Kreikemeier at 509-635-1303.

Athenaeum

Athenaeum guest day was April 15 at the Methodist Church with more than 30 attending. Joan Hubbard gave a slide presentation on the history of Colfax. The next meeting will be May 6 with a no-host luncheon at the Snake River Bar and Grill at Boyer Park and Marina.

Thrifty Grandmothers

Fourteen members attended the Colfax Thrifty Grandmother’s monthly meeting recently at the library. Business conducted included approval of the following donations: Colfax Junior Rodeo, $500; Inland Northwest Safe Kids, $500 for purchase of car seats and helmets; St. Baldrick's Foundation, $1,000 for childhood cancer research.

Clarke, Frederick George Arthur, born April 14 at seven pounds, 13 ounces, to Katy and Christopher Clarke, Pullman. Paternal grandparents are Nanette and Arthur Clarke, Las Vegas. Maternal grandparents are Jan and Bill Webb, Elko, Nev. Baby joins brother McPherson, 4.

Maternal grandparents are Suella May Gran and Jeffery Wolfe, Moses Lake. Baby joins brothers Zaiden, 15, Ryan, 14 and sisters Jaleigh, 14, Jennifer, 12, Aurora, 12 and Angelice, 10.
