Robinson throws no-hitter in Colfax opener

Colfax junior Danny Robinson threw a no-hitter Friday in the baseball season opener at McDonald Park when the Bulldogs swept Reardan in a NE league start. The Bulldogs blanked Reardan 14-0 in the first game and posted a 21-1 win in the second game.

Reardan's lone score for the day came in the last inning of the twinbill.

Robinson struck out six Reardan batters and walked just one in the opener. He threw 52 pitches over the five innings of the opener.

Colfax batters rapped l13 hits in the first game. Robinson doubled and tripled in the first game, and Hunter Mosbar had two hits with a triple.

Colfax rolled out 13 runs in the first inning of the second game and finished with nine hits.

Dustyn Hall started the second game, and Keith Gfeller relieved him in the third inning. Reardan batters totaled four hits.

The Bulldog defense played the two five-inning rounds without booking an error. Cal Gregory was catcher for both games.

Reardan had four errors in each game.

Colfax hitters in the first game included Gregory, 1b; Logan Gingerich 1b, Robinson 2b & 3b, Kenton Lyman 2-1b, Dustyn Hall 1b & 2b, Parker Huber 1b & 2b, Matt Sharp 1b and Hunter Mosbar 1b & 3b.

Bulldog hitters in the second game included Gingerich 1b, Robinson 1b, Lyman 2b, Hall 2b, Kyle Appel 2b, Huber 1b, Sharp 1b, Nate Akesson 1b and Kiernan Anderson 1b.

Nate Kieffer pitched for Reardan with Dusty Rettkowski catching in the first game. They reversed assignments to start the second game, but Rettkowki was battered by the 13-run Colfax start and returned to the catcher's slot.
