Colfax boys extend winning streak

Colfax boys pegged an early lead against the Davenport Gorillas Tuesday night and went on to roll out a 48-33 win on the home court. The big edge marked the fifth straight win for the Bulldogs, who had a rough start in NE league action.

Saturday, the Bulldogs had another runaway win over Tekoa-Rosalia to wrap up the first round of action in the south division of the NE league. Score against the Timberwolves was 59-29.

Tuesday Davenport traveled to Colfax with a 5-5 record.

The Bulldogs rocketed to an 8-1 lead over the Gorillas and kept it for the distance with a 28-12 lead at the half.

Danny Robinson Tuesday again led Colfax with 20 points as part of a Colfax offense which worked more inside the three-point line.

Each team Tuesday finished with just three 3-point shots for the game with Jaden Flett hitting all three for the Gorillas.

Colfax booked 10 steals for the Gorillas who were keyed by 5-7 senior guard Nathan Hopkins who also hit 13.

Saturday against the Timberwolves, the Bulldogs also staked an early lead and finished the first quarter 18-6. They kept the pace for the distance for the 30-point win after leading 32-12 at the break.

Robinson also led Colfax in the Saturday night caper with 18 points, all delivered from long range with six three-point shots.

Senior Cooper Angelo and sophomore Eddy Frick each scored eight points to lead Tekoa-Rosalia who finished 0-5 for the first round of south side action.

Tuesday's Davenport game was the first of six single games which the Bulldogs will play against teams in the northern division of the NE league. Friday night they will host Mary Walker of Springdale, and Saturday they will be on the road to play Northwest Christian.
