Peggy Bryan and Bill Knox are looking into grant writing applications and inquiring on avenues for funding to restore the rock houses. Peggy with Scooter Lyle and Kathleen Ryan, from WSU, are working on ideas for a temporary unit to act as an "Ice Age Institute" information center until the rock house is functional. A cargo truck container unit has been donated that would be stored at the Pullman McGregor branch so WSU/Rural Community Development Initiative students can begin work on it. The idea is that once it is finished, the unit will be located on the lot next to the rock houses for visitor viewing.

Recently the Tri-State "States without Borders" grain growers conference was in Spokane at the Davenport Grand Hotel. Several residents of LaCrosse attended where they learned about global, technological and economic changes that are affecting the production and sales of grains.

Washington Association of Wheat Growers (WAWG) members met to review and approve new resolutions to present on the state and federal legislative levels. The attendees also dined very well.

Ted Nealey informed WAWG members of the formation of a 501-C4, "Workers Rights Coalition" that is working on state right-to-work legislation.

The attendees were able to meet with Diana Carlen, lobbyist for WAWG in Olympia. WAWG is encouraging all grain producers to join Diana for Olympia Days, Jan. 19- 21.

LaCrosse Community Pride (LCP) continues to advertise for a café operator. They have expanded the search to a larger area including Spokane and Seattle.
