Arts Council offers brochure Colfax Arts Council has prepared a brochure outlining the goals of the group.

Copies of the brochure were prepared by Lynnette Ring of the Abundant Faith Studio who has been elected president of the council and is part of a reorganization effort. Copies of the brochure are available at Ring's studio in the former Elks Building, at the Chamber of Commerce Office and the Whitman County Library.

Two arts council projects, the Colfax Main Street banner competition and the Meet the Artist series at the library, have been placed on hold until the council board studies options for the future.

One other goal is to work with the library to provide art classes and exhibits at the Center.

Debi Anderson, who spearheaded formation of the council and served as president for several years, has been elected vice president.

Other officers are Debbie Snell, treasurer, and Emily Adams, secretary.

Membership forms are included in the new brochure.

Individual adult membership is $25 and children's membership is $5.

Eric Taylor set at Dahmen Dahmen Barn kicks off its summer concert series Saturday, June 20, at 7 p.m., with Eric Taylor from Texas.

Admission is $15 at the door.

The doors open at 6:15; come early for good seating.

The seven concerts, which run June, July and August, and feature talented performers from across the country, are being held in the new addition at the Barn.

Eric Taylor is a master storyteller and has been one of the finest southern songwriters for the last four decades.

He tours extensively throughout North America and Europe.

He has appeared on Austin City Limits, Late Night With David Letterman, NPR's "Morning Edition" and "Mountain Stage" and BBC Radio.

He is a mesmerizing performer whose shows will leave you wanting more.

Library slates Superhero tour “Superhero America: The Comic-Book Character as Historical Lens”, a series of family programs by T. Andrew Wahl come to six Whitman County and Neill Public Library locations during the last week in June.

The program is free thanks to a grant from Humanities Washington and local support from Friends groups from both libraries.

Since the debut of Superman in 1938, the American superhero has been a regular part of our pop culture landscape.

In this interactive multimedia presentation, Wahl explores how historical events and shifting social mores can be seen in the evolution of characters from Wonder Woman to Spider-Man.

Fourth of July show in Clarkston Lancer Lanes and Casino in Clarkston will host a five-hour Red, White and Blues Music Festival July 4 from 5 to 10 p.m.

Blues from nationally recognized Blues star Cee Cee James, who will headline and close the show, as well as the Paul Hernandez Trio, Aury Moore Band, Simon Tucker Group and special guest Matt Beltz.

Advanced tickets can be purchased at the casino for $20, with veterans also receiving 20 percent off the ticket price.

Kids 12 and under are free.

Guests are advised to bring sunscreen and also a coat or sweatshirt. Lawn chairs will be allowed at the event.

Gates will open at 4 p.m.

Phantom Tollbooth set for PCT run Pullman Civic Theatre will present The Phantom Tollbooth July 10-12 and July 16-19 at the Nye Street Theatre.

Thursday, Friday and Saturday showtime is 7:30 p.m., while the Sunday showtime is 2 p.m.

The main character, Milo, is described by director Penny Gonzalez, an Albion resident and retired theatre education professional, as bored until he finds a tollbooth in his room and "goes on this pretty wild adventure." Gonzalez said the play is adapted from a book of the same name written by Norton Juster.

"The literature is fabulous," she said.

"It's one of the best young adult books.

The adaptation of the play is really well done." Ticket prices will range from $10-15 and can be purchased online at http://www.pullmancivictheatre.org, at Dissmore's and at Neill's Flowers and Gifts.
