Applicants sought for EMT training

Volunteer ambulance services in the areas of Garfield-Farmington, Tekoa and Rosalia are seeking candidates for Volunteer EMT service.

All recent high school graduates are encouraged to apply.

The combined, nonprofit ambulance services have been serving the area since 1972.

Applicants need to be 18 years or older to apply.

A high school diploma is preferred, but not required.

Successful applicants will be offered free or low-cost EMT training, which takes place this fall at a site yet to be determined.

The training meets certification requirements and equips the candidates for volunteer and employment in ambulance service.

The classes are 180 hours, and continuing education is provided periodically for free for all EMTs volunteering in the Whitman County area.

Applicants are needed to serve on an "on-call volunteer basis" in the towns they reside in.

The public is also invited to attend board meetings in Tekoa the first Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m.

at the Ambulance building at the corner of SR 27 and Ramsey Street in Tekoa.
