Jennings principal submits resignation; district searching for candidate

Tom Arlt, Jennings Elementary School principal, submitted his resignation to the Colfax School Board last week.

District Supt. Michael Morgan told the board Monday the opening has been posted on websites for the Association of Washington School Principals and Washington State School Directors Association.

Northeast Washington Education Service District 101 Superintendent Michael Dunn will send out a notice to all principals and superintendents in the district with a closing date for the job of June 17, or until filled.

Tentative dates for interviews are set for June 22 and 23.

Boardmember David Nails asked Morgan if there would be a consultant involved, similar to this winter and spring’s superintendent search and high school principal search.

Morgan replied that the district learned a fair amount from just going through the process twice.

Arlt’s resignation signifies what will be a complete change in top administrators in the Colfax District for next year.

Morgan completes his 10 years as superintendent June 30, to be replaced by Jerry Pugh, who comes from Chewelah.

Colfax High principal Buck Marsh will complete his contract June 30. He will be replaced by Nathan Whittle of American Falls, Idaho.
