Youth faces charges

Charges of fourth degree assault and unlawful imprisonment were filed June 1 against a 16-year-old Garfield juvenile.

He was arrested after officers responded to a report May 29 from the high school at Palouse of a youth grabbing an elderly woman, covering her mouth, placing her into a vehicle and driving away.

He was believed to have been traveling northbound on Highway 27.

The police report alleges when the vehicle was stopped south of Garfield the occupants said they had argued when the youth demanded to drive home from school and the woman, who was his grandmother, refused to let him drive.

She told the arresting officer the youth grabbed her after she slapped him.

Bond was set at $2,500.
