County road up for name change

A gravel road off of Highway 194 between Colfax and Pullman may be getting a new name.

Benedict Road is the subject of a homeowner’s proposal for a name change to “Moys Road,” after Harvey G. “Bud” Moys, a late farmer in the area.

The new, not yet-moved-in residents are Bill and Lona Criswell, who will soon live in the former 1915 Moys’ house.

Bill had worked for Moys back in high school. Bud died in 2003 and the home was later given to him and Lona.

Benedict Road was once a path to the river for wagonloads of wheat, a precursor to the Almota grade.
