Appels attend Poulsbo vows

Dick and Helen Appel attended their granddaughter’s wedding in Poulsbo over Mother’s Day weekend. Kate Wollstein is the daughter of Barb and Bruce Wollstein, Lacey. The groom is Elliot Moon of Bonney Lake. That Sunday a Mother’s Day lunch was held at the Wollstein home. Many of the Appel family were able to attend.

Susan Lynch, West Layfayette, Ind., is visiting her parents, Dick and Helen Appel, for the month of May. She and her daughter Cecelia rode back with them from the Wollstein wedding. Her husband, Joe Lynch, came the next week. Bruce Appel is also staying with his parents part-time. He and his family are in the process of moving to Spokane.

Susan Lynch, Layfayette, held a tea at her mother’s home for her sisters, Caroline Kunkel of Pullman and Lisa Frei of Palouse, and their daughters as well as Grandma Lois Scholz of Colfax.

Helen and Dick Appel celebrated the baptism of their newest grandson, John Paul Appel, at the home of his parents, Neil and Liz Appel. Joining the festivities were Bruce Appel; Susan, Joe and Cecilia Lynch, and the Travis and Lisa Frei family.

On February 20th, Fran Jones returned home after flying to Edmonton, Canada, where she spent a week visiting with eight of her nieces and other family members who live in the area. She reported that she was treated like “Queen for a Week."

Visitors at the homes of Bryan and Fran Jones Memorial Day weekend were Julie Walker and Warren Jones of Hayden, Idaho.

Marian Bay, former LaCrosse resident, was a guest of Larry and Di Brink from Thursday to Monday of last week. She visited and attended a bridal shower while here.

Sunday, Larry and Di Brink went to LaCrosse to Don and Carol Keeney’s for a picnic. Also attending were Jeff and Sharee Keeney, Wyatt and Chyanne, Lake Murtaugh, ID; Kevin and Amber Brink, Ashley, Kloey, Ellie and Nick, Kennewick; John and Brandi Brink and Myla, Colfax; Mike Stine and Bill Emerson. Steve Bailey joined them later. Jeff and his family returned to their home Tuesday.

Karen Broeckel was in Spokane Friday and Saturday assisting with preparations for the Saturday evening wedding of her niece, Jamie Wieber, daughter of Patty and the late Rick Wieber, to Bobby Halbig.

Other friends and relatives who attended the event were Dale and Vicki Broeckel, Tom and Doreen Riedner, Dusty; Greg, Gwen and Jason Nolan, Andrew Nolan and Emily Ovens, Colfax; Ken and Pam Beasley and Zach, Waitsburg; Al Broeckel, Tacoma; and Brian and JoAnn Elrod and Lauren and Aiden, Bellevue.

Greg Nolan and Pam Beasley sang for the bridal couple.

The ceremony was performed by Pastor Doug Wieber, a cousin of the bride.

The bridal party included the groom’s children Emma, junior bridesmaid; Easton, junior groomsman; Evelyn, flower girl and Ezra, ring bearer.

The Halbigs live in Spokane.

Karen Broeckel attended a birthday dinner in honor of Jason Nolan at the home of his parents, Greg and Gwen Nolan, Sunday evening. Other attendees included Mark and Carol Rubin; Jay, Kathy and Bryan Rubin; Andrew Nolan and Emily Ovens and Lauren, Grady and Holden; and Greta Geier.

A crew will pick up flowers Sunday evening at the Dusty Cemetery.
