County gets lone roll-off bid

Whitman County commissioners Monday opened one bid for a roll-off drop axle/tarping system for the public works department.

The lone bid was from Solid Waste Systems, Inc., of Spokane for $56,285.

The public works department is eligible for a $180,000 state Coordinated Prevention Grant through the Department of Ecology. These grants usually pay for recycling activities.

With the money, the department will purchase a new roll-off truck.

The bid was officially approved by commissioners later Monday afternoon.
