Rosalia selects 2015 royalty

Rosalia Chamber of Commerce presented “Miss Rosalia is on the Red Carpet” at the Rosalia High School Gym Sunday. Collin Pittmann, MC of the event, welcomed everyone for the afternoon. The opening routine was performed by the 2015 Miss Rosalia contestants, Gensen Merritt, Sarah Billings, McKenzie Dempsey and Sara Frost to the song Material Girl by Madonna.

Pirouette Dance Academy entertained the audience with a dance performance by Tekoa grade school girls to The Beauty and the Beast music.

Talent competition showcased the talents of the contestants. Merritt performed a tap dance from the movie Selena. Billings recited a self-written monologue entitled “The Inspiration of Art”. Dempsey sang a Disney Hits Melody. Frost’s self-written monologue was “It’s No Fun Being a Girl”. Judges were welcomed and introduced.

2014 Royalty Court Queen Rayna Charles, Princess Kadine Coffey and Princess Rachel Evans performed a musical skit reminiscent the 1920s. The poise and appearance portion of the program included music by John Legend, “You and I”.

Sophomore Sisters were welcomed and introduced: Ellie Bruce, Hannah Lautenslager, Hannah Beach, Jamie Blank and Destiny Theis. The Sophomore Sister program provides prop assistance to each royalty contestant.

Pittmann welcomed all past and present visiting royalty. Gifted Grannies provided the refreshments during intermission. Many community members and businesses contributed and were thanked for their contributions toward this program, including royalty parents, videographer Mike Day and photographer Caryn Bothman. Pittmann sang, “Count On Me” by Bruno Mars.

At the conclusion of the afternoon, Pittmann announced the awards. Sara Frost won The Spirit of Miss Rosalia. Gensen Merritt received awards for Ticket Sales and Poise and Appearance. McKenzie Dempsey won Talent and was awarded the queen’s crown.

The 2014 retiring royalty presented the floral bouquets, gifts and royalty crowns.
