Vogler duo reports on trip to Texas

Dusty

Mark and Kathryn Vogler spent Christmas Day in Seattle with Anna, Chad and Iris Assareh, their daughter’s family, and the extended Assareh family. They then watched the second in the L.B.J. series, “The Great Society” at the Seattle Repertory Theater with Sandy and Chris Mcdade, Mark’s Whitman College friends.

They had seen the first L.B.J. play, “All the Way”, in late November at the Rep with the Mcdades. The two couples flew to Austin, Texas, where they spent time at the L.B.J. Presidential Library, ate all manner of barbecue and sampled local art, music, culture, food and museums they could cram into six days, including a trip to San Antonio and the Alamo.

On the return trip, they had a belated Christmas celebration with their son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Cari Vogler, who had spent the 25th in Boise with Cari’s family.

Christmas Eve guests at the Dick Appel home were Phil Appel, Spokane; Sabrina Appel, Salem; Caroline and Rob Kunkel and their children Zack, Kade, Elly and Luciene, Pullman.

They came to help Helen with Christmas dinner preparations.

Additional Christmas dinner guests were Dave and Alice Appel, Colfax; Charlie Appel, Colfax; Steve and Dianne Appel, Dusty; Eric and Shannon Appel, Connor, Christopher, Sarah, Kyle and Sidney, Dusty; Lisa and Travis Frei, Miriam, Rachel, Emma and Colette, Palouse, and Miriam Frei, Spokane.

Barb and Bruce Wollstein, Kate Wollstein and Elliot Moon, Lacey, arrived on Dec. 26 to help with the annual pig butchering.

Additional guests at the Appels were Beth and David Lohrmeyer and Kristin, Gig Harbor; Bob and Deb Stavig and Alissa, Brush Prairie; and Jessica Wanke, Ridgefield.

New Year’s Day guests at the Dick Appel’s were the Travis Frei family.

They came to help slice and wrap bacon.

Dale and Vicki Broeckel attended an appreciation dinner hosted by Alan and Kathy Morgan and Justin and Bridgett Morgan for employees and their families of Palouse River Rock of Colfax. The event was at Banyons Restaurant in Pullman Saturday evening.
