“Extreme Chef” winner set for P&L meet

The inaugural winner of the Food Network’s hit show “Extreme Chef” will be one of several presenters at the Western Pea and Lentil Growers Association (WPLGA) 49th annual convention Tuesday, Dec. 2, at the University Inn Best Western in Moscow, Idaho.

Executive Chef L.J. Klink has worn many chef hats through his roles as the director of a culinary arts institute, a corporate chef and most recently as a consultant for school food programs. Chef Klink is a champion for pulse crop products (legumes such as dry peas, lentils and chickpeas), incorporating pulses in many of his dishes. He is also an actor and entertainer. Lunch will feature some of his pulse-inspired culinary creations.

The 2014 annual convention will begin with the traditional Chairman’s breakfast, followed by a day of presentations and displays on topics such as pulse variety updates, crop insurance, domestic and international marketing, farm bill updates, and a government affairs update.

Other highlights include the Legislative Action Fund annual raffle with a $4,000 Dream Vacation as the prize. Various door prizes will be awarded throughout the day. The event will conclude with a sponsored reception.

This meeting is open to the general public. Tickets will be $40 at the door, lunch included. Register by Nov. 26 for a $5 discount.
