Lyons reports

on vets project

Hal "Babe" Lyons, Colfax High School grad who was a big part of the Codger Bowl project, reported this week on a Veteran's Day ceremony at the Civic Center Campus in LaQuinta, Calif., where he resides. Lyons, who served as a B-29 pilot in World War II, will be among those whose name will be engraved on a new bronze art memorial at the civic center and has been invited to appear at the event.

In his letter to the Gazette last week, Lyons inquired about whether or not Colfax has a memorial that includes the names of World War II Veterans.

Lyons, now 91, noted he carries an introduction card signed by Gen. Hap Arnold in his billfold. The card takes note of Lyons' service in the Army Air Corps.
