Library offers

canvas class

Colfax Library will offer a mixed media canvas class Friday, Oct. 24, from 7 to 9 p.m. Participants will learn how to create a unique canvas by adding layers of scrapbook paper, book pages, paint, ink and embellishments. Each participant will leave the class with a completed canvas.

The $10 fee includes canvas and supplies. Class participants are encouraged to bring scissors, paper cutter and supplies they’d like to incorporate into their canvas but are not necessary.

Class space is limited, and registration deadline is Oct. 23. Call the library to register or email Nichole at nichole@whitco.lib.wa.us.

Bead weaving

set at Dahmen

A bead weaving workshop taught by resident artist Alison Ohman for beginners 16 and up will be offered at Dahmen Barn Saturday, Nov. 15, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. She is supplying a loom and beads as part of the $88 fee.

Students will create a bag necklace, which can be seen on the class’ calendar listing at http://www.artisanbarn.org. Registrations are required by Sunday, Nov. 9, and may be made directly from the event calendar listing.

Students that have a good light, such as an Ott Light, are encouraged to bring it.

Alison Oman came to Idaho in 1984 and joined the Palouse Hills Weavers Guild where she learned to create her pictures in tapestry. In 1987 a chance course in tapestry that incorporated glass beads gave her a new challenge and beading on a loom became the focus of her work.
