Watercolor exhibit

to open at Dahmen

Palouse Watercolor Socius annual members’ exhibit and sale will run through Oct. 26 during regular open hours at Dahmen Barn in Uniontown.

The Palouse Watercolor Socius was formed in the spring of 1974 by seven artists who were students of Alfred Dunn at the University of Idaho. Of the original group, Kay Montgomery and Linda Wallace remain active members.

Fused glass class

slated at Dahmen

Christie Zeoli will conduct a class on the basics of working with fused glass Saturday, Oct. 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Dahmen Barn. Students will also create one pendant.

Fee for the class will be $40 and will include all materials. Those interested are required to register by Oct. 12.

Cowboy roundup

Palouse Country Cowboy Poets and Musicians will have their Fall Roundup at the Dahmen Barn Oct. 12 at 2 p.m. Admission will be $8 at the door. Performers include poets Orvil Sears, Darleane Norskog, J.B. Barber and Dave Nordquist along with musicians Dave Fulfs, Lee Hadwiger, Donna Gwinn and Bodie Dominguez.

Fiber arts day

set at Wheatland

Twisted Threads spinning group will sponsor a fiber arts day and farmers market Saturday, Oct. 11, at Wheatland Grange Hall, located on Highway 23 approximately 11 miles west of Steptoe from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A noon potluck will be served.

Participants are encouraged to bring a current project, a friend and have fun meeting other crafters and sharing skills with them.

Vendors will offer hand-crafted items, yarns, roving, equipment, books, sewing items and collectibles along with some garden produce.

Pullman LWV

Pullman League of Women Voters will host a brown bag discussion with Brett Haverstick from Friends of the Clearwater who will give a presentation about the Wilderness Act. The meeting will be Thursday, Oct. 16, from 12- 1 p.m. at the Congregational Church at 525 Campus Avenue. There is free parking in the lot next to the church at the corner of Campus and Opel streets. The public is invited to attend.

Hog Heaven Big Band returns to the Dahmen Barn

Saturday, Oct. 25, from 7:30 to 9:30, the Hog Heaven Big Band will play tunes from The Great American Song Book at Artisans at the Dahmen Barn in Uniontown. It is a fun evening whether you come to listen or wish to dance to the energetic music. Some very experienced dancers come, so watching them is great entertainment. The Hog Heaven Big Band has been playing regularly at the Dahmen Barn since its grand opening in 2006. They will return spring of 2015. Admission at the door is $8 for a couple, $5 for a single.

Borderline Blue trio coming to the Dahmen Barn

Come and enjoy the Borderline Blue trio playing a mix of classic rock, classic country and classic jazz with a blues twist at the Dahmen Barn in Uniontown on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 7:30 p.m. Because they play classic tunes from several genres, their music appeals to everyone. The group has performed in venues throughout Pullman and Moscow including Merry Cellars in Pullman, The Cider House in Pullman, D. Wiley’s Blues Brew and BBQ in Moscow, and the Neill Public Library in Pullman. Admission is $10 at the door.

The Borderline Blue trio features local musicians Keri LeForce on vocals and guitar; Gary Scheer on guitar, lap steel, harmonica, and fiddle; and Patrick Adams on bass and percussion. Keri, Gary and Patrick have performed in many local music groups in the past 19 years including the Hog Heaven Big Band, Off The Leash, Soulstice, No Fret, church groups and Moscow and Pullman civic theatres. Their involvement with so many types of music allows them to create fresh renditions of the great classic rock, country and jazz songs of the past.
