Seattle road trip results in 1919 photo match

Dianne Morris, Valleyford, and her sister Jan Smith, Dusty, recently took a road trip to the Seattle area where they visited their sister, Jeanne Levy, cousin Sandi Gilbert and aunt, Ruth Gwinn. Jan took a recent “Good Old Days” Gazette article telling of the 1919 harvest bee for Chris Stueckle, Ruth’s father and grandfather of the other women. While looking through some old photos, they found three small pictures of the event described in the article.

The last week in August, Dick and Helen Appel spent several days with their daughter Barb and husband Bruce Wollstein in Lacey. They also visited Ocean Shores and stayed in the Wollstein’s vacation home. They attended a Mariners game to celebrate Dick’s birthday. All of the Wollstein’s daughters visited with their grandparents while they were there.

Don and Kay Stinson, Branson, Mo., parents of Jen Claassen, visited last week. They took in the festivities at the fair with the Claassen family and watched Bo, Lauren, Hunter, Paige and Ben show pigs. They also had fun watching Bo play football Friday night against Liberty. They arrived last Wednesday and planned to stay a week.

Last Thursday night, Tom Phillips, Las Vegas, and Kevin Brink came home to help parents Larry and Di Brink with clean-up. Friday, Amber Brink and children Ashley, Kloey, Ellie and Nick, Kennewick, and John, Brandi and Myla Brink, Colton, arrived for supper. Josh Bay, Seattle, arrived later Friday and Mike Stine, LaCrosse, came Saturday when they all went to the home of Lucky and Joan Myrick for lunch. Later, they all attended the Palouse Empire Fair. They all left at various times Sunday to return to their own homes.

Lucky and Joan Myrick hosted the annual Larry and Di Brink — Myrick families get together this past weekend. Attending were Rich and Jannetta Myrick and Rich’s children Cherie Myrick and friend Curtis, Eatonville; Deanna and Cameron Myrick, Spanaway; Mike Myrick, Parkland; and son Michael, Yelm; Rob Myrick and Larry and Di Brink, Dusty; Kevin and Amber Brink and children Ashley, Kloey, Ellie and Nick, Kennewick; John and Brandi Brink and Myla, Colton; Tom Phillips, Las Vegas; Mike Stine, LaCrosse; and Josh Bay, Seattle. They also celebrated the September birthdays of Di Brink, Mike Myrick, Ashley Brink, Cameron Myrick, Myla Brink, Rich Myrick and Rob Myrick.

Heathermarie Reynoso and sons Valente, Jeronimo and Xico returned to their home in Mexico City Monday after spending the summer helping with the Heaton family harvest.

They stayed through the Palouse Empire Fair because the boys all had projects entered in the fair.

Valente won the intermediate judging animals competition and got a blue ribbon for the boot rack he had made from horseshoes in the recycling division.

Jeronimo received the Reserve Grand Champion in Fitting and Showing award in the intermediate class for his steer.

He also received the Best in Class for his recycling project he designed and made, and also got third in judging calves, sheep and hogs.

Xico received a blue ribbon on the coat rack made of horseshoes he made for the recycling division.
