Sandpoint duo

to play at Empire

Tami and Dave Gunter of Sandpoint will perform in concert at Tekoa’s Empire Theater Saturday, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m. Performing as Bridges Home, they have a repertoire that features a wide range of musical styles, from high-energy Celtic to down-home Delta Blues.

Both come from musical families. Tami’s father played the fiddle and Dave, who spent his early years in Kentucky, Alabama and North Carolina, was exposed to all types of music.

Their arrangements of American folk favorites and their original songs reflect this appreciation of a broad range of genres. Between them they play the guitar, ukulele, banjo, octave mandolin, Celtic harp, accordion, Irish whistle, bodhran, washboard, stompbox and dobro. They also occasionally use a cigar box guitar, made from a wooden container for cigars.

The Gunters also team-teach music in schools and know what appeals to both adults and younger audiences.

Admission will be adults $12, students $5 and ages 5 and under free. In addition, the first ten parties to buy tickets will receive a free, signed Bridges Home CD.
