Courthouse project starts

Work began Sept. 1 in the courthouse to bring the rest rooms in compliance with disability act requirements. Crews from Elmer Construction started in the downstairs rest rooms under the $350,749 contract.

The project started with work in the first level rest room with a posting of locations of other rest rooms in the courthouse.

In addition to upgrades of the rest rooms, the contract calls for installation of counters at wheel chair height in offices at the courthouse. Alternate exit doors for offices with just one entrance are also in the contract.
