Henry C. &

the Willards

Henry C. and the Willards will perform at Dahmen Barn in Uniontown Saturday, Aug. 23, at 7:30 p.m. Admission will be $8 at the door. The group got together in the fall of 2012 as the result of a request to provide live music for a birthday party. Their style has been described as “blues-infused and danceable, with fierce vocals.”

The musicians include guitarist and songwriter Henry C. Willard, who has played with a variety of bands on the Palouse; keyboardist/vocalist Jeanne McHale who plays with the Snake River Six, bassist Doug Park, drummer Nels Peterson and vocalists Terri Grzebielski and Donna Holmes Parks.

Two artists who practice different methods to create art inspired by nature will exhibit during August at Artisans at Dahmen Barn.

Colfax artist Carrie Vielle, a resident artist at the Dahmen Barn, uses charcoal and mixed media collage to create stunning images of the human form.

Moscow artist Ben Carpenter uses distinctive wood from the Pacific Northwest to create works of art inspired by nature. The exhibit runs from Aug. 2 through Aug. 31.

A reception with the artists present is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 10, from 1 to 3 p.m.

Born at Victoria, B.C., into a family and community immersed in the arts, Carrie Vielle earned a BA in Studio Art and a MA in Art History from Eastern Washington University where she also taught art and design courses.

Three years ago she decided to pursue her artistic passions full time. Her work has been warmly accepted into national galleries and been included in international exhibits and collections.

Carpenter uses a lathe and carving tools to shape wood. Carpenter creates powerful objects imbued with the highest aesthetic. He drew inspiration from his father, a carpenter and fine craftsman. Ben began wood turning under the guidance of maestro Jim Christiansen of Moscow, Idaho.
