Relay for Life marks 19 years of fighting cancer

Relay for Life marked its 19th year in Colfax Saturday with a new noon to midnight format.

In the top photo, cancer survivors walk in front of the display of past Relay for Life shirts on the fence of the football field.

At left, Dylan and Grace Lee of Spokane, grandchildren of Darlene and Sid Lee, try out two of the water cannons which were part of the relay items designed to beat the heat.

The middle picture at right shows the cancer survivors and caregivers making a joint approach to the finish line in the evening observance.

Vocalists Becky Hemphill, Leah Phillips and Anna Zook sing Parting Glass during the observance.

At lower left, members of the Peace Walkers from Peace Lutheran Church, one of 14 teams in the event, start around the track during the opening ceremonies.
