Gar-Pal/T.O. boys take doubleheader

Playing at Endicott Saturday, the combined Garfield-Palouse/Tekoa-Oakesdale team beat St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse-Washtucna-Kahlotus by scores of 15-11 and 5-1.

In the sixth inning of the first game, the 10-run rule took effect after Ian Niebergs and Gabe Cocking hit home runs. Mason Bates hit a grand slam in the fourth inning.

In the second game, GP/TO catcher Jesse Lopez switched to pitcher while pitcher Wyatt Griner switched to catcher.

Lopez threw for eight strikeouts and hit three RBIs in the second game while Bates and Cocking both scored two runs.

Cocking led hitters in the first game with three hits include a home run and double.

Caleb Hudson, Brandon Bennett and Alex White each hit doubles for SJELWK.

The combination of Gar-Pal and Tekoa-Oakesdale is a one-season arrangement until Tekoa joins with Rosalia next year.
