Bulldogs extend win streak to eight games

Colfax baseball team ran its record to 8-0 Tuesday with two heavy wins over Reardan at McDonald Park. Colfax dropped Reardan 9-1 in the first game and 3-1 in the second game after the two league foes locked up for four scoreless innings.

The pair of wins over Reardan came after another league double against Lind/Ritzville/ Sprague was called off Friday because of a scheduling mistake. The Bulldogs today will head for Ritzville to get in the two games.

In the opener Tuesday against Reardan, Colfax pitcher Patrick Jacobs allowed just two hits. The guest’s lone score came in the last inning after Colfax had banked nine runs off 10 hits.

Jacobs struck out eight and walked just two.

Colfax scored three in the third inning with Garret Burke tagged two-run singles. They added two in the fifth with Jacobs and Brent Becker getting the RBIs.

Colfax offense finished with four more runs in the sixth inning. Austin Getz led off with a double and Mark Webber, Danny Robinson and Jacobs followed with singles.

Burke and Reardan pitcher Jack Walker dueled through the first four innings of the second game before the Bulldogs broke it open with three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. The big hit was tagged by Burke who rapped a double down the third base line.

Burke’s hit came after Getz and Webber walked and Reardan decided to allow Jacobs an intentional walk. That loaded the bases for Burke who ripped the liner down the third base line. Jacobs went all the way around the bases and wound up sliding into the plate for the third run.

Burke also had a single. Dylan Heiser, Jacobs and Getz had the other Colfax hits.
