Hog Heaven set

at Dahmen barn

Hog Heaven Big Band will play tunes from the Great American Song Book at Artisans at the Dahmen Barn in Uniontown Saturday, April 25, at 7:30 p.m.

Admission will be $8 for a couple and $5 for a single. The 16-piece big band has played on the Palouse for decades and at the Dahmen Barn since it opened in October of 2006.

Pullman Rotary

sets feed, auction

Pullman Rotary Club will host a spaghetti feed and silent auction April 26 at Lincoln Middle School from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the feed will be $8 for adults and $6 for children 10 and under.

Items for the silent auction have been contributed by businesses and club members. Last year's auction featured a kayak, a Sri Lankan meal, Cougar gear and sports equipment. Bidding for the aution items will end promptly at 7:30 p.m.

Proceeds from the auction are used for club grants for community development and club service projects.

The Pullman club meets Wednesdays at noon at the Fireside Grill in Pullman.

Pie social

set at Albion

Guy Albion Historical Society will sponsor the annual pie social Saturday, April 12, at 6:30 p.m. in the Albion Community Center.

A project to improve the center is expected to be completed for the social. The society's board voted to partner with the town of Albion to patch and paint the community room and the upper hall of the community building. Funds for the project came from the Friends of Albion when they disbanded. KACI of Pullman was hired to do the job.

Athenaeum

Eighteen members and one guest met April 4. Maxine Lange presented a program on Quartzite, Ariz., where she has spent many winters. Quartzite and the surrounding area offers many recreational opportunities, including rock and mineral shows, recreational vehicle gatherings and the Yuma Air Show. Quartzite is also known for its association with the US Camel Corps in the 19th Century.

Maxine particularly recommended visiting Mission San Xavier, completed in 1797, the Kitt Peak observatory and the Desert Museum, all near Tucson.

Next meeting will be guest day April 18 at Peace Lutheran Church with Patti Cammack presenting the program.
