Qigong massage demo

Licensed acupuncturist and traditional East Asian medicine practitioner Liz Lee will present Qigong self-massage exercise techniques to help alleviate neck and shoulder tension, headache and fatigue on Friday, March 7, at noon at Pullman Regional Hospital in conference rooms C/D.

Athenaeum

Nineteen members attended the last meeting.

Chris Kackman presented a program on the city of Portland, Ore. She outlined Portland’s colorful past and described its many landmarks.

Portland is a city of coffee, microbrews, bookstores and bicycles.

Chris has many family members in the area and shared several personal anecdotes about her experiences in the Rose City.

Next meeting will be March 7 at Whitman County Library.

Sharon Baum will serve as hostess and Linda Marler will present the program.

Rosalia Garden Club

Rosalia Garden Club will meet March 5 at Penni Barringer’s home for a 1 p.m. dessert.

Guest speaker will be David Benscoter, an orchardist and specialist on research for heirloom apples that once grew in the area. Guests are welcome but asked to inform the hostess at least one day before the event.

Members will also judge the butterfly posters for state competition.

Chapter AF met at the home of Arlene Hatley Feb. 24. Nine members who braved the snowstorm responded to roll call by indicating their favorite Olympic event.

An invitation was read from the Southeast Reciprocity inviting members to attend the meeting and luncheon April 12 in Pullman.

Members were reminded that the fund-raiser socks are due to be turned in to the chapter the end of April or the first part of May.

Robyn Johnson read her President’s letter and it was approved by those in attendance.

The next meeting is March 10 at Marsha Binder’s home with election and installation of officers for 2014/2015,

Joan Hubbard will provide the program.

May, Nikole A. and Nicholas R, were born Feb. 11 at four pounds, five ounces, and four pounds, nine ounces, to Bryan May and Elisha Aske of Pullman. Paternal grandparents are Greta Clark and Rodney Clark of Elk River, Idaho. Maternal grandparent is Merritt Aske of Pullman. The babies join sisters Shawntell, 13, and Lily, 6, and brothers Trevor, 16 and Jayden, 11.

Shahan, Piper Ann, was born Feb. 13 at six pounds, eight ounces, to Jennifer and Justin Shahan of Colfax. Paternal grandparents are Rita and Gary Ackerman and Ron Shahan of Colfax. Maternal grandparents are Jim and Cathy White of Colfax.

Astill, Elliott Lawrence, was born Feb. 14 at six pounds, seven ounces, to Greg and Heather Astill of Pullman. Paternal grandparents are Mark and Helen Astill of Centerville, Utah. Maternal grandparents are Janice and Bruce Hathaway of Provo, Utah.

Robinson, Jude Walker, was born Feb. 17 at six pounds, 12 ounces, to Justin and Briana Robinson of Pullman. Paternal grandparents are Colleen Robinson of Richland and the late John Robinson. Maternal grandparents are Hal and Suzanne Levitch of Spokane.
