Elberton residents seek road vacation

Elberton residents have petitioned the county for vacation of a platted roadway on the east side of Elberton. Designated the School Road, the actual platted road never became a reality, and Elberton houses were later located close to the designated roadway.

The School Road is approximtately 500 feet long. It intersects with the Oral Smith Road which is the portion of Elberton on the east side of the Palouse River.

A hearing for the road vacation has been scheduled in the county commissioners’ chambers March 17.

Much of the property in Elberton is owned by the county parks department.
