Dusty residents report on holiday gatherings

Guests for Christmas dinner at the Dick Appel home were Deb, Bob, Alyssa and Scot Stavig, Brush Prairie; Jessica and Kyle Wanke, Ridgefield; Eric, Shannon, Connor, Christopher, Sarah, Kyle and Sidney Appel, Dusty; Steve and Dianne Appel, Dusty; Dave, Alice and Charlie Appel, Colfax; Lois Scholz, Colfax, and Phil and Sabrina Appel, Spokane. Arriving to join the Stavigs, Wankes, and Phil Appel on Dec. 26 for hog butchering were Barb, Bruce and Kate Wollstein, Lacey; Elliot Moon, Bonney Lake; Beth and David Lahrmeyer, Gig Harbor; Caroline, Rob, Zack, Kade, Elly and Luciene Kunkel, Pullman; Joanne and Pat Corrigan Bellevue, and Jim Appel, Seattle.

Lisa, Travis, Miriam, Rachel, Emma and Colette Frei, Palouse, and Mark Appel and Jamie Hughes, Colfax, came to help with butchering later in the week.

Dick and Helen Appel are grandparents once again. Susan and Joe Lynch have a daughter, Cecilia Grace, born Dec. 29 in West Lafayette, Ind.

Wes and Jen Claassen and children drove to Kansas City for Christmas at Jennifer’s brother’s house with 21 family members joining in the celebration. They attended a Chiefs vs. Colts football game and spent two weeks with family. After spending Christmas in Kansas City, they went on to visit Jen’s parents in Branson where they spent a few days visiting and took in the Spirit of Christmas Show before driving back home.

Dick and Suzy McNeilly travelled back east to celebrate Suzy’s son, Jacob and his wife Ashley’s, New Year’s Eve wedding celebration. They were joined by all three of Suzy’s children and five grandchildren. While there, they toured Fredericksburg, Va., and Washington, D.C.

Lucky and Joan Myrick celebrated a late Christmas with their children and their families last week. Mike Myrick, Tacoma, and his son Michael, Yelm, and Rhonda Cluff, Tacoma, arrived Thursday and stayed until Saturday. Rich Myrick and Jannetta Johnson, Moses Lake, arrived Friday and stayed until Sunday. They all were joined by Rob Myrick and Larry and Di Brink Saturday for Christmas dinner.

Loren Scaggs, Dusty, and Beth Christie, Buffalo, N.Y., spent New Year’s snowmobiling at Priest Lake. They stayed at Hills Resort with Stan and Kyle and Lisa Hawley of Moscow; Penny of Moscow, and her sister Pam of Los Angeles.

Renee Horton and her 16-year-old daughter Devin of Houston spent from New Year’s Eve to Monday visiting with Renee’s parents, Warren and Connie Horton.

Karen Broeckel joined Oscar Broeckel, Brian and Angela Broeckel, Doreen Riedner and Denise Kendall at their family dinner last week. Both Riedner and Kendall returned to their respective homes in Genesee and Tacoma last Thursday.

Dusty BB Club met Wednesday in the parrish hall of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in LaCrosse to make baby blankets for the free maternity clinic at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane. Hostesses were Janelle Guske and Diane Monson. Roll call was snow memories.
