Colton, T.O. girls start off strong in S.E.

Colton’s five-time defending champions roared to a 76-31 home win Saturday night over Touchet to open their league campaign. The win was the first time the Wildcats had seen action since they dropped Grangeville in a non-league opener Dec. 3.

Colton roared to a 20-3 lead after the first quarter and kept building the lead from there. Jenna Moser, now a senior, finished with 28 points, including seven 3-point shots.

The Wildcats Monday advanced their record to 3-0 when they downed Prairie of Cottonwood 63-40, Prairie traveled to Colton with a 7-1 record.

In other league action Saturday, St. John /Endicott advanced their league mark to 2-0 with a 31-19 win over the Garfield/Palouse Vikings at St. John. Rachel Gfeffer led the Eagles with eight points for the league win.

Liberty Christian moved their league mark to 1-1 Saturday with a 52-19 home win over LaCrosse/Washtucna/Kahloltus. Sarah Croskey hit 24 points and Wynter Green hit 17 for the Patriots.

Garfield/Palouse opened the league campaign Friday by taking out the same Liberty Christian team 54-33 at Palouse with Chandler Pfaff hitting 21 points and pulling down seven rebounds. Bri Brown hit 14 for the Vikings who held Croskey to just six points for the Patriots.

Tekoa/Oakesdale also waded into the league action with a 52-10 win over the Tigercats Friday at Washtucna

St. John/Endioctt girls started the league Friday with a 51-43 win in a battle at Pomeroy. Abby Glorfield led the Eagles with 18 points against the Pirates. The Eagles posted a 26-22 lead at the half and held off the Pirates for two close quarters in the second half. Torrie Koller and Mackenzie Monahan each hit 12 for the hosts.

Rosalia girls traveled to Wellpinit to make up a non-leaguer and posted a 50-40 win with Mackenzie Reddish hitting 25 points. The Spartans trailed after the first quarter, but hit 20 in the second frame to take the lead. Alex Naught and Hannah Beach each it six for the Spartans, and Stacey and Shannon Carrothers each hit five.

Rosalia opted to make up the Wellpinit game and reschedule their league start with Touchet to Feb. 4.
