Veterans' Day

Rosalia

Rosalia held the annual Veterans’ Day ceremony Monday at 11 a.m. at the Veterans Park with Alice Hofmann as the emcee. Rosalia Boy Scouts were the honor guard and led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance. They presented their flag retirement ceremony, presenting used US Flags for proper disposal by fire.

Rosalia Mayor-Elect Nan Konishi welcomed everyone to the event. She shared a note of gratitude for civilian support from her son Jeff, currently serving in the military.

Major John Goldsworthy, a Rosalia 1995 grad, was the keynote speaker. John served in Iraq and is currently an Army Reserve Chaplain and Pastor in Spokane. John spoke on the importance of family and friends supporting our military.

Julie Pittmann, Washington State Vice Regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution, dedicated the DAR Veteran Wreath. Donated by Pittmann Town and Country, the wreath symbolizes the never ending circle of support for our veterans. Alice Hofmann accepted the Washington State Governor’s November Military Awareness Proclamation on behalf of those attending as all veterans stood and the crowd showed their appreciation.

Emily Hahner, with her brother Greg, both of Rosalia, performed a military musical tribute.

To conclude the program, Taps was played by Lucas Engel of Rosalia, and the VFW Post Rifle Team fired three volleys.
