Colfax Crawdads finished in third place in the Senior Babe Ruth fall league playoff over the weekend at Rogers High School in Spokane.

Top eight finishers in the 15-team league run qualify for the playoffs with the teams matched up in inverse order for the first round Saturday in an elimination round.

The locals started the playoffs Saturday with a 4-2 win over the Spokane Marlins in the elimination round. Christian Palomo of Pullman struck out six Marlins in taking the win. Patrick Jacobs had RBI hits in the third and fifth inning and Brent Becker had an RBI in the first inning.

In the next round Saturday, the Crawdads bowed 2-6 to the Rogers High School Pirates in the pivotal game of the series.

The Crawdads were on the brink of taking the lead in the fifth inning when they lost two runners in plays at the plate. The first stop was on a running error and the second one was on a disputed call when Danny Robinson slid into home.

Rogers came back to add two unearned runs in their half of the inning to nail the win.

In Sunday’s consolation game for third place the locals shut out Spokane Men In Pink 6-0 with Becker throwing five shutout innings. Jacobs closed out the last two frames.

Jacobs tagged a two-run homer in the fifth, and Jeff Davies had a two-run double in the sixth.

Spokane Crew took the title game 5-4 over the Pirates.

The Crawdads, who played their league games at McDonald Park, finished 8-3-2 overall.
